Glass Windows

A glass horizontal window.

When people think about enclosing a screen room, their first thought is usually of glass windows to create that perfect glass room. Glass windows are a terrific product, and obviously we sell glass windows, but the building code has stringent requirements for installing glass windows in a screen room. For that reason, vinyl or acrylic windows are usually a better option. You may also want to see considerations when you are enclosing a screen room to learn more.

If your screen room is structurally sound enough to be permanently enclosed, glass windows are definitely the way to go. Glass windows are usually less expensive than acrylic windows, and unlike vinyl or acrylic windows, glass windows do not need to be removed in high winds. You wind up with a additional permanent living space for your home, typically at a fraction of what it would cost for a custom glass room.

Glass windows are available in 2 main types - horizontal (side) sliding windows and vertical windows generally called single hung windows. Horizontal sliding windows are the most popular option for use in a screen room because openings are usually quite wide; single hung windows often can not be built wide enough for use in a screen room. Regardless of which type of window you use, you will have about a 50% opening when your windows are opened. Both horizontal and vertical windows are easy to install and operate, and will last for years to come. You can't go wrong with either type. Our glass windows feature:

  • Custom built to your size requirements. There is no such thing as a standard size, though, so don't worry about paying extra for "customization".

  • Available in single glazed clear glass or tinted. Insulated clear and tinted glass also available. Insulated glass with a Low-E coating is another popular option.

  • Tempered glass is available in any window. Tempered glass must be used in doors, near doors, in openings close to the floor, and in certain other locations. The building code addresses the specific requirements for when tempered glass must be used.

  • Horizontal sliding or vertical sliding windows are available. Vertical windows are subject to maximum widths dictated by national building codes, not the window manufacturer.

  • These windows meet all code requirements for use in our area. Your area may have different requirements. Often these windows are used for new construction or remodels. These are high quality windows, not some cheap window just for enclosing screen rooms.

  • White or bronze colored aluminum frames to match your existing screen room. Both are the same price.

  • 10 year manufacturer's warranty.

  • All glass windows outside mount permanently and include a removable screen.

  • Fixed panels are available to cover openings where an operable window is not necessary.

  • Trapezoidal shaped fixed panels are available for non-rectangular shaped openings.

  • All are shipped as complete units ready to install.

  • Windows are designed to fit inside standard 2" screen room materials.

  • Call us with the sizes of windows you need for a free estimate. All window sizes are Width first and then Height. We can quote you on all three types of windows - vinyl, acrylic, and glass if you like.

Remember, Glass Windows are incredibly easy to install, even if you have no previous experience working with aluminum. And since we use the exact same windows professional contractors use, your result is a finished room just like a contractor would build, but at a fraction of the price.
