When
people think about
enclosing a screen room,
their first thought is
usually of glass windows
to create that perfect
glass room. Glass
windows are a terrific
product, and we sell
glass windows, but the
building code has
stringent requirements
for installing glass
windows in a screen
room. For that reason,
vinyl or acrylic windows
are usually a better
option. You may also
want to see
considerations when you
are enclosing a screen
room to learn more.
Acrylic windows are made
using acrylic panels
instead of glass. And
due to the thickness of
the acrylic, these
windows are made using
the heaviest aluminum
sash - the same sash
used for high end
glass windows. You wind
up with an extremely
well made window which
will last for years, with
the added advantage of
virtually unbreakable
acrylic in place of
glass. Acrylic windows
are especially popular
for people who live on
golf courses.
Because acrylic costs
more than glass, and
these windows use a very
heavy duty aluminum
sash, acrylic windows
are generally more
expensive than glass
windows. But the
durability of the
acrylic windows, coupled
with the fact you won't
have to upgrade your
existing screen room,
makes them the perfect
choice for many. Don't
be concerned about the
windows being too
expensive, though. While
acrylic windows do cost
more than vinyl windows,
the cost is not
prohibitive by any
stretch. In fact, you
can usually install
acrylic windows yourself
for less than what a
contractor would charge
you to install vinyl
windows.
Acrylic windows are
available as horizontal
sliding windows only.
They have 2 panes, and
both panes operate,
unlike typical glass
horizontal windows in
which only one pane
operates. Both panes of
an acrylic window must
operate because the
panes have to be
removable in case of
high winds. With the
windows open, you will
have a 50% maximum
opening. Our acrylic
windows feature:
-
Custom built to
your size
requirements.
There is no such
thing as a
standard size,
though, so don't
worry about
paying extra for
"customization".
-
Your choice of
clear or tinted
acrylic. Tinted
costs a little
bit more. You
can see samples
in our showroom.
-
White or bronze
colored aluminum
frames to match your
existing screen
room. Both are the
same price.
-
10 year
manufacturer's
warranty.
-
Available in
inside mount
which is the most
common and uses your
existing screening,
or outside mount in
which case you
remove your existing
screening. Either
costs the same. With
outside mount
windows, separate
removable screens
are available as an
option.
-
Fixed panels are
available to cover
openings where you
do not need an
operable window.
-
Trapezoidal shaped
fixed panels are
available for
non-rectangular
shaped openings.
-
All are shipped as
complete units ready
to install.
-
Windows are designed
to fit inside
standard 2" screen
room materials.
-
The frames of the
windows are mounted
permanently in the
opening, however the
window vents must be
removed when wind
speeds exceed 75
M.P.H. Simply
opening the windows
to let air through
is not sufficient
and may result in
damage to the
windows.

Height. We can quote
you on all three
types of windows -
vinyl, acrylic, and
glass if you like.
Remember, Acrylic
Windows are incredibly
easy to install, even if you have
no previous experience
working with aluminum.
And since we use the
exact same windows
professional contractors
use, your result is a
finished room just like a contractor
would build, but at a
fraction of the price.
