Overview of Attached Carports
The customized Carport
material packages we
sell are generally much
less expensive than
other ways of building a
carport - i.e., lumber
or pre-packaged steel
kits. Our Carports can
also usually be built
much more quickly than
those others - often in
as little as a few
hours. And, when you
combine those facts with
our ability to provide
you with a Carport
design which meets
Florida requirements
which may not be
possible with those
other materials, you
will see a real
advantage to building
one of our long lasting
and virtually
maintenance free
Carports. Attached
Carports are below, and
we also sell
Freestanding Carports.

A "double" attached Carport
Usually a Carport
consists of simply a
roof along with posts
holding a beam to
support the roof. With
an attached Carport,
your home (or other
structure) supports part
of the roof with the
posts and beams holding
up the other part of the
roof.
Carport size is usually
designated by it's
width. For instance, a
carport wide enough for
one car is a single
Carport, wide enough for
two cars is a double
Carport, and so on.
However, any Carport
type can be made long
enough to park 2 or more
cars front to back, so
width alone does not
determine how many
vehicles will fit under
a Carport.
Typically a space of
about 10' wide by 20'
long is considered the
size needed for one car.
A one car single
Carport typically
measures about 10' by
20'. A Carport 10' by
40' is a typical size
for a single Carport to
park 2 cars front to
back, whereas 20' x 20'
is a typical size for a
double Carport with 2
cars parked side by
side. As with any of our
materials packages,
though, you decide
exactly what size you
need. Longer or shorter
is no problem. Wider or
narrower is no problem
either. Even extra tall
structures for things
like rv's, semi's, and
boats are easy. There is virtually
no limit to the sizes of
Carports we can provide
for you, so you can
cover as many vehicles
and as much of your
stuff as you like. The Carport package
can also be customized in a
many ways to
provide you with a
finished Carport just right
for your needs. Typical
features of attached
Carports are:
-
A Carport sized to
your
requirements and
designed to meet
current Florida
wind loading
requirements.

-
A mono-slope
roof roof
which attaches
to your house.
Gabled type
roofs are also
available but
are far less
common.
-
A roof made of
roof pans or structural
insulated roof
panels with
various fascia &
gutter options.
Fan beams
are available,
and skylights are
also available
for structural
insulated
roofing.
-
The number and
size of posts
determined by
engineering and
customer needs.
Our computer
software
optimizes your
Carport by
calculating the
lowest price
combination of
posts and beam
needed. However,
this sometimes
means having one
or more posts in
undesirable
locations. We
can usually
eliminate the
posts in those
undesirable
locations by
increasing the
size of the beam
and using fewer
but stronger
posts to
compensate for
the additional
load per post.
Keep in mind,
though, this
configuration
will cost
somewhat more
than the
optimized
combination.
-
For some double
Carports (unlike the
one pictured above)
you may have a row
of posts along with
a beam in the center
of the Carport. We
can usually engineer
a grid system of
beams to eliminate
the center row of
posts, however the
needed beams are
usually more
expensive than the
posts and beam they
will replace. But,
if you don't want
posts in the middle
of your Carport, you
may find it
beneficial.

-
Because the Carport
is attached to your
house, posts do not
have to be buried
and can simply be
fastened to a proper
footing - usually
your concrete slab.
-
Durable and
virtually
maintenance free
aluminum materials.
-
White or
bronze
colored
materials for
beams and posts,
both colors at the
same price.
-
Material packages
also include post
bases, concrete
fasteners, screws,
header for the roof,
and more.
Remember, Carports built from
our material packages
are easy to build even
if you have no previous
experience working with
aluminum. And since we
use the exact same
materials professional
contractors use, your
result is a finished
Carport just like a
contractor would build,
but at a fraction of the
price.
