Freestanding Carports

A "double" Freestanding
Carport. This Carport has a
gabled roof as
well as gable end fill to
match the house.
Freestanding Carports
are virtually identical
to Attached Carports
except Freestanding
Carports stand entirely
on their own with no
additional support.
There is virtually no
limit to the sizes of
Carports we can provide
for you, so you can
cover as many vehicles
as you like. (For an
explanation of sizes, be
sure to see
Attached Carports)The
Carport package
can also be customized in a
many ways to
provide you with a
finished Carport just right
for your needs. Typical
features of Freestanding
Carports are similar to
Attached Carports and
include:
-
A Carport sized to
your
requirements and
designed to meet
current Florida
wind loading
requirements.
-
A Gabled type
roof is more
common for
double
Freestanding
Carports whereas
a mono-slope
roof is more
common for
single
Freestanding
Carports.
-
A roof made of
roof pans or structural
insulated roof
panels with
various fascia &
gutter options.
Fan beams
are available,
and skylights are
also available
for structural
insulated
roofing.
-
The number and
size of posts
determined by
engineering and
customer needs.
Our computer
software
optimizes your
Carport by
calculating the
lowest price
combination of
posts and beam
needed. However,
this sometimes
means having one
or more posts in
undesirable
locations. We
can usually
eliminate the
posts in those
undesirable
locations by
increasing the
size of the beam
and using fewer
but stronger
posts to
compensate for
the additional
load per post.
Keep in mind,
though, this
configuration
will cost
somewhat more
than the
optimized
combination.
-
For some double
Carports (like the
one pictured above)
you may have a row
of posts along with
a beam in the center
of the Carport. We
can usually engineer
a grid system of
beams to eliminate
the center row of
posts, however the
needed beams are
usually more
expensive than the
posts and beam they
will replace. But,
if you don't want
posts in the middle
of your Carport, you
may find it
beneficial.

Carport with a grid

Whether Attached or
Freestanding, the
grid system concept
is the same. This
will open in a new
pop-up window)
-
Because the
Freestanding Carport
is NOT
attached to another
structure, the posts
DO
have to be buried
into the ground with
a proper size
footing. These posts
can not simply be
attached to your
slab because they
will not have
sufficient strength
to resist racking
and twisting in high
winds.
-
Durable and
virtually
maintenance free
aluminum materials.
-
White or
bronze
colored
materials for
beams and posts,
both colors at the
same price.
-
Materials packages
also include post
bases if needed,
concrete fasteners
as needed, screws,
and much more.
Remember, Carports built from
our material packages
are easy to build even
if you have no previous
experience working with
aluminum. And since we
use the exact same
materials professional
contractors use, your
result is a finished
Carport just like a
contractor would build,
but at a fraction of the
price.
